"The goal of Business Champions is to link students with business leaders to give
them the tools they will need to succeed in the business world," said John Butler,
President of the School.
Bruce Baschuk, a co-founder and Principal of J Street Development, will be among those
recognized for significant contributions to the School and the greater Washington
community. Prior to forming J Street Development in 2004, Baschuk spent five years
away from his commercial real estate career. Among his many philanthropic commitments,
he started the boys' lacrosse team at the School. He also taught public speaking and
served as a mentor to students and their families.
Mr. Butler noted, "Bruce exemplifies the dedication and passion that are key to successfully
integrating values and strong academic achievement in our young people." Mr. Baschuk
added, "As business leaders, we need these young people-they are our future. In turn,
the young people need our resources. It's a perfect partnership which can truly be
a championship team."
Proceeds from the luncheon raises funds which will allow the School to provide students
a technology-enabled learning environment that prepares them for higher education
and the workplace of the 21st century. Archbishop Carroll's Business Champions initiative
